FCA Uganda joins charity walk to support children with disabilities

On Sunday, October 5, 2025Finn Church Aid (FCA) Uganda joined Comprehensive Rehabilitation Services for People with Disability in Uganda (CoRSU) Hospital and partner organizations for the CoRSU Walk, a major fundraising event supporting life-changing care for children with disabilities.

The Walk, themed “Bring Hope to Children with Disabilities,” aimed to raise UGX 400 million to fund up to 300 surgeries, purchase vital theatre equipment, renovate the Outpatients’ Department, and strengthen rehabilitation services.

Over 2,000 participants, including corporate partners, families, and community members, walked along 10km and 5km routes, demonstrating the power of community action and corporate commitment in transforming the lives of children living with disabilities.

This walk aligns with FCA Uganda’s strategic direction of strengthening disability inclusion across all its programs.

Through the Interventions for Disabilities in Early Childhood (IDEC) Project, FCA Uganda, in partnership with UNICEF, identifies children with special needs in refugee and host communities in Western Uganda and refers them to CoRSU Hospital for essential care.

FCA then supports them to enroll in early childhood education centres, promoting inclusive education and creating pathways for brighter futures.

“Joining the CoRSU Walk gave FCA a chance to stand alongside children with disabilities and their families, and to raise awareness and resources for life-changing care,” said Esau Atwongyeire, IDEC Project Manager at FCA Uganda.

The event highlighted how fundraising, partnership, and community participation can create inclusive opportunities and brighter futures for children with disabilities across Uganda.
